Bygones Bar and Restaurant came under new ownership in April '07, the new owners Ali, Derrick and their daughter Sam (below centre) took over after spending Two and a half years in Spain.
Ali Derrick and Sam moved to Spain after owning numerous businesses in England including a cafe in Cornwall for the past Eighteen years, feeling in need of a new challenge and tired of the rat race in England, they decided to move to Spain to embrace the relaxed 'manana' lifestyle, after Two years with their daughter Sam by their side, they settled on Bygones as their new challenge.
Bygones, having been established for Seventeen years was one of the first bars in the 'El Oasis' area in Los Alcazares, with the owner Steve looking to move on to newer pastures, it proved an ideal opportunity to take over a long standing business and stamp their personality and ideas onto it.
Upon taking over the bar, the kitchen was completely renovated and modernised, along with new chef Mike, a new extensive menu was created using all fresh produce, with children's meals, a good english bar menu, modern a la carte, menu de la noche and fish and chips nights on Tuesdays and Fridays and Sunday lunches served from 1pm-4pm. check out Mike's recipe for the week
Mike having previously worked internationally in places such as Dubai and America and having headed his own team of chefs, was happy to embrace the challenge and has since produced elaborate Christmas and New Years Eve menus including private parties such as Jet2.com's Christmas Dinner Party.
Bygones has finished a successful and highly busy summer season with 4-5 nights entertainment a week from acts such as Jumbo and Christine and karaoke with Kameo Karaoke and old Los Alcazares favourites Mike and Irene continuing into the winter twice a week.
Ali, Derrick and Sam, along with staff pride themselves on their warm, friendly and family orientated atmosphere.
All main football and sports events are shown on a large screen TV with Sky and Mesh networks available. Bygones also has a local darts team in the winter and an outside pool table in the summer
Also happening throughout February is BYGONES IDOL, a karaoke competition with a 250 euros 1st prize, judged by Jumbo, who appeared in cabaret throughout the summer and Ashley Smith of the top ABBA tribute act ABBAcadabra and a guest judge each week.
